Bionesia Program
Research
“BIONESIA believes that strong and ethical research is the main foundation to protect Indonesian biodiversity for future generations”
Research Program is a strategic initiative by BIONESIA to strengthen scientific understanding of Indonesian biodiversity. The program focuses on conservation based on research, molecular genetics, ecology, and socio-culture to obtain scientific data and scientific studies that can be used to determine environmental conservation policies and actions.
Through collaboration with universities, research institutions, local communities, and government institutions, BIONESIA supports academic and applied research.

The main focus of this program:
Genetic Conservation: DNA study to identify species, populations, and genetic structures of animals and plants.
Biodiversity and Ecology: Inventory and monitoring of terrestrial and marine species, including endemic and endangered species.
Social and Ecological Interactions: Research on the relation between indigenous communities and the environment, as well as the social impact of conservation activities.
Sustainable Use: Studies on the sustainable use of natural resources by local communities.
This program also serves as a learning platform for students, junior researchers, and professionals through scientific mentoring, research methodology training, and research publications.
Main purpose of the research program:
Improve the Indonesian biodiversity scientific database, especially on genetic data.
Encourage multidisciplinary and participatory research collaboration.
Give a real contribution for species and ecosystem conservation.
